Met Museum : Robot Arm Research

The Lab began a collaboration with the MET Media Lab and a number of other technologists to develop software and hardware for the Media Lab’s U5 Robotic arm. The first step was to create a modular pen head that attached to the end of the robotic arm. Multiple iterations resulted in:

We also collaborated with the team to begin developing a collaborative drawing application. The application works by allowing people to interface with the arm via an ipad. Users can draw their signature or other simple drawing. The software then places this drawing in a position to create a larger, mosaic drawing from it. The robot arm draw mirrors this mosaic drawing:
